Retrofit Temperature Monitor for Ruston TB Series
gas Turbine Part Number: PS-5400-04
This
unit consists of the well-proven Dynalco (TM-5000E-32)
thirty two channel temperature monitor, mounted
in an aluminum chassis that fits in the control
cabinet. The unit has a PSI custom designed E-Prom
to provide enhanced levels of control, protection
and monitoring.
The monitor provides access to the 16 PT exit,
compressor inlet, exit, and exhaust stack thermocouples.
It also has inputs for gas producer speed, power
turbine speed, and fuel valve angle. The unit
constantly scans all input channels, providing
indicators of each channel.
The unit provides the following control indications
to the turbine control system:
- Max PT exit temperature speed over-ride
control
- Max PT exit temperature speed lower control
- Max PT exit temperature critical high alarm
- Max PT exit temperature critical high shutdown
- High thermocouple spread warning
- High combustion chamber deviation shutdown
- Thermocouple fault protection and warning
- Power turbine speed overspeed shutdown
By monitoring all existing thermocouples, the
unit provides overall monitoring of the combustion
system performance. This will substantially
reduce level of H.P. turbine nozzle damage.

The unit mounts in the existing cabinet; additional
connecting cables are provided to tie into the
turbine control cabinet terminals for additional
monitoring channels. The unit requires an additional
10 way thermocouple extension cable to be run
from the thermocouple junction box on the skid
to the cabinet to pick up the extra thermocouples.
It will be necessary to make provision in the
thermocouple junction box for additional terminals
for the even numbered thermocouples. Engine
hot signal is provided via a temperature switch
fitted to the C.T. lube oil drain line.
The high resolution custom LCD digital display
will read in °F or °C giving on-line monitoring
of all channels and set points. There is a memory
recall feature for simplified fault finding
on shutdown. Data is scanned continuously and
there is simple keypad access for displaying
individual channels or set points, and programming
changes. All set points are stored up to ten
years without power and there is an adjustable
on board timer which can be set to inhibit transient
condition. There are two sets of set points
for each control to differentiate between startup
and running conditions.
